Darling kiddies,
I have, after finishing my dinner a moment to spare to rant about my hatred of peppermint candies. You know, those red and white striped ones?
Fooey I say. For one thing, whenever I seem to eat them they do not stay in one piece. I'll usually end up with several small bits of the candy in my mouth because it doesn't feel the need to stay together for very long.
Don't even get me started on the flavor.
Too late, I've started. The peppermint imitation flavor... I have never had such rotten peppermint imitation in my life! And the sugar content! It is as blatant as the salt content in a bag of lays potato chips. These little candies taste of sugar and wronged peppermint death-bombs. Them crumbling apart in my mouth only adds to the irritation.
Sugary faintly-minty crap melting in my mouth threatening to throw a person with sensitive blood sugar into shock.
If I hate them so much, why bother eating them then you ask? Why devote a whole post to something you've obviously had before??
Well... if I'm at a restaurant and all they have is earl grey tea, and these little buggers on the counter... then who am I going to grab for fresh breath after a meal? That's right.
Why not keep a thing of mints in your pocket? This is stupid you mutter.
Let's just say I'm forgetful and putting mints in my purse is not top of the to remember pile. A lot of things I SHOULD remember seem to escape that pile as it is. I know, excuses excuses. At least it's the truth.
Other imitation flavors I've had and woefully wish I hadn't:
Chocolate tootsie-roll pops. (another sugar content problem, never mind the blatant lack of chocolate flavor)
Banana popsicles
Coffee ice cream
Coffee Milk
Any flavor freezer pops
Blue raspberry ANYTHING - because somehow, people's flavor definition of blue raspberry ALWAYS ends up different. (which technically is derived from whitebark raspberry when it's not imitation crap...)
Grape ANYTHING
That about sums it up for now.
much love,
xoxo
